Instagram is simply too limited to roll out all the intricate details that interest us when examining historical artifacts or living conditions, so here we go bringing just another Viking blog to the internet. In particular, I decided to pursue a very committed project recreating the famous Chamber Grave 5 from the Southern Cemetery Field in Hedeby. This will easily take me 3 to 5 years given the exclusivity of the corresponding items and materials used in this burial, so it’s worth documenting all the different steps in more detail.
The picture depicts the archeological site of L’Anse Aux Meadows in Newfoundland, Canada (Turtle Island), where we travelled earlier this year. Not unlike the early medieval explorers, we travelled from the shores of the Baltic Sea across the Atlantic Ocean to find a new home in Ontario.
